My 2011 E220 SE Doesn't have electric folding mirros. They were an optional extra on the SE IN 2011 at a cost of £520 (called "mirror package"). I suspect its stil the case for SE models?

Mine has it but I never use it as I'm informed the wires break when the mirrors are constantly folded and unfolded.
The only time I fold them is when its parked on a road so they don't get hit.

Wouldn't bother me one bit if it didn't have auto fold on door locking.

I emailed the dealer.......as they always reply within 30 mins.

Until now - the cynical me says maybe I'm not that important now I have actually collected the car.

I will try and call them tomorrow as there service has been first class up to this point.

The SE Executive does not have folding exterior mirrors.

They are electrically adjustable and heated only.

Hi

Quick update.

Dealer hasn't returned calls or emails........

However it appears I cannot do it - despite being told before I ordered that I could.

The bigger problem is that I cannot even do it by pressing a button inside the vehicle - it just doesn't have electric folding mirrors on the vehicle. There is no button near to where you can adjust the mirrors......

Not too sure what to do now.

To get the car onto my drive way I need to fold the mirrors in - obviously I can't do this from inside the vehicle I would have to get out every time - and the same when leaving the drive - I would have to exit the vehicle after backing off the drive.

The problem here being is that I am disabled and getting in and out of the car is no small feat for myself.

What may not seem important to a lot of people is a huge problem for myself - but not too sure what to do - obviously my first point of contact is the dealer - so I will feed back what happens.

I did verbally ask the question but not too sure there is anything on the printed order form that says "folding mirrors".

Crikey, I see why that would be a big problem for you.
Also if You're reversing out with mirrors folded and cannot move them back out after the obstruction you're reversing half blind onto a public road.

Clearly you had a need for the electric fold, might help you prove your point if it comes to it.

I really don't want to get into "proving points" etc - I would hope the dealer will rectify the problem - but not too sure how ?

Maybe it was up to myself to check before I drove away - but I would have been there a long time checking every feature worked.........

UPDATE - They have just called me - the chap I dealt with is on holiday so somebody else is looking into it.

My independent service garage reconfigured the mirrors on my 2008 S203 C Estate. The mirrors close when I press the remote to lock the car and after unlocking (with the remote) they open when any one door is fully open (I suspect the door light switch prompts it to happen).

Is it a Motobility car by chance?

Talk to Motobility too. Bit of a pre requisite I'd have thought; firstly it being Motobility, secondly your particular needs that qualify you for the Motobility car.

If no sense from the oik, ask to deal with the Dealer Principle. Be polite but firm. MB will be sensitive to the opening market given them through Motobility.

It will get resolved, I'm sure.

Let us know how you get on.

Do remember on this that if the mirrors fold every time the car is locked, the wires inside will eventually break.

You only keep Motability cars in general for 3 years so that shouldn't be an issue.

Does this weakness still apply to the latest C Class?
I would have expected this to be designed out by now.
Besides, with this being a Motability vehicle, the OP will pnly have it for three years, so the problem - if it's still there - will become the next owner's.

I possibly have the same model as you Dave ( mine's a S204, but yours could be one of the last S203's). I have been looking for a workaround for my mirrors, which do not powerfold at the moment. I was told there is a Youtube video showing how, but haven't found it yet.

As long as your's is a 204 and if your guy will divulge his trick, that would no doubt be very useful for others as well as myself.

Yes it still applies, worse at cold temps. But not as bad as the early 203/211

Mine's definitely one of the last S203's.

I presume you do have the four select/open/close buttons on the right of the dashboard with the direction "toggle" in the middle?

The garage I use is a smallish local service and electrical specialist. I asked if they could get into Star (they reset the service indicator after they've done it) and I mentioned that I could only open/close the mirrors manually and when I got it back, it had been done. What's more they didn't charge me!

I'll ask them how it was done...

Here's an early thread - I mentioned I'd had mine done locally and one or two more knowledgeable people posted comments:
