20180430_203330.jpg Well tonight I fitted the coolant pipe connector, temp insured and drove it home and it drove absolutely perfect.
Smooth and quiet, had to stop at a petrol garage to pump up one of the front tyres because it only had 15psi in it. Apart from that it was flawless, only done around 2 miles, but they were 2 good miles.

Going to do an oil change tomorow. And hopefully get another 85,000 out of it.

I've reset the trip meter to keep an eye on the rebuilt mileage.

Thanks. Yep, it's getting a full clean tomorrow as it's going to be dry.

Haha well to be honest I would of probably given up and it would of went to the scrappers if you didn't say that you would be happy to put it together. So thank you for that.

Its working fine now, I just hope the pistons hold up and gives me a good long time to enjoy it.

Damage like that is pretty minor. It's not ideal to put it together with them like that but it was definitely worth the try and there is a very good chance it'll be fine for years to come.

yes, i agree, what harm is such a small bit going to do. Now if it was the rocker cover missing, i would have a look.
It will more than likley eject itself on first decent drive

If it's sat on the cat it will form a hotspot which may damage the cat.

I'll have to check the exhaust out at some point, I'm guessing it must have gone there.

No update yet I'm afraid. Only that I drove it to work and it's still going.
7 miles now :D

Oil and filter change and a good wash later though.

I am going to need a new mirror switch and repair the wiring in the left mirror as It does give an indicator warning when folding the mirrors.

Great news. Now you need to detail it. Have a look on here for details and prepare to become obsessed.

Did the oil and filter change, nothing suspicious in the oil or filter.
Then gave it a quick clean. Still need to hover it and get a decent air freshener as my mum use to keep her gardening tools in the boot so it's smells a bit earthy.

Did notice a squeaking when going over bumps, had a quick look and found the driver front thrust arm ball joint gaiter has split, so need a new thrust arm.
Still driving great over 20 miles now.
Still has a very slight rattle when starting but heard thats normal.
Also needs new front pads and discs soon. But will see how it goes with some proper mileage first before I spend out on parts.

Well done Diddles. From the appearance of the car, it was worth all the effort .....I know that black is a nightmare to keep clean, but in my opinion... it's still the best colour to have in a car !!!
Good Luck, and many happy trouble free miles driving it.

Thanks, it does scrub up nicely.
Just went for quick drive and did a few kick downs as I haven't revved it hard yet. Everything ran fine, just smelt a bit eggy from the exhaust when I got home. I'm guessing this is normal, just hope that piston part isn't stuck on the cat and destroying it.

Also with the ac, if the a/c rest button is lit does that mean it's on or off?

Probably from the un-burnt fuel siting in the cats.

If your button says EC:

Light on is ac off

If your button says AC off:

Light on is AC off.
