My HU had been playing up recently; random cutting out for no reason and mapping not showing although voice directions fine, so I bit the bullet and had a new HU fitted.

Original HU is

New Kenwood DMX 5020 DABS

Looks very OEM IMO and does all the modern things like running apps, DAB radio etc. Very pleased with the HU and the install carried out by Car Audio Centre, Ilford. They managed the install after an abortive attempt by another installer who was unable to figure his way around the fibre optics issue and a downstream amp. My car doesn't have both but does have fibre optics which makes the install a bit more involved. Car audio centre did it though so all praise to them. I'd highly recommend them if your car has the system mine had.

Just a note ref predictive text. Message says doesn't have both, should say doesn't have Bose. Makes more sense now.

A lot say that you'll lose the Bose system if you have an aftermarket HU installed, one reason why I haven't gone down this road.....Main reason is I keep spending money on keeping it running

That looks very good indeed. Can I ask how much as my W210 HU needs replacing too.

Yours is also the later (easier) post 2004 setup.
On a pre 2004 with Bose it's a total nightmare.

JP,
I guess if I'd looked at it from a purely financial basis I probably wouldn't have done it. The benefits of a modern HU made it good news for me.

2005 CL500.
It does look well, not oem because it would look like your first pic if it did.
