As a new Mercedese-Benz owner, unfortunatly not a New M-B, it's just that it's new to me !
Any way, can anyone recomend a none franchised M-B specialist inthe Bournemouth area, so that I can get my 1984 200Auto serviced. Also what should I expect to pay to have the timing chain replaced ?
Regards

Hi,

I was down in your area last weekend.

The parts from a dealer are £30 for the tensioner & £30 for the chain. They should charge you no more than 2hrs labour at whatever their rate is. The above prices are plus vat.

David from German & Swedish will pick this up & give you a price on replacement prices.

PS. Make sure they inspect the gears as closely as possible. Especially the distributor gear. If this gear is worn. Then the timing chain will not last very long. Trouble is, its a pig to get to.  Any problems give me a ring. Numbers on my website.
