I get that, although obviously the problem is, that I am so limited for boot space
Do cars with run flats not have space for a spare wheel in the usual place ? I know most people aren't going to go to the trouble of buying a spare if they don't have one already , but a can of puncture gunk and a foot pump doesn't take up much space .

I tend to fit Pilot Sports to my "day" car - I find they last quite well, grip well in the wet and just make the vehicle feel planted. Will be interesting to see how a Merc feels with them on.

I had PS on my SL and they were a really good tyre, plenty of grip , quiet, good in the wet...couldn’t fault them really

They are good but you do pay a premium over the GY for the Name, not convinced it is worth it

I have a E350CDI, & on the forum advice I went from Conti's to Uniroyal Rainsport 3's.
Very pleased, wet grip is fantastic.

My e350 cab is a 2012, and it comes with a space saver... I guess they must have got rid of that in the later years

And from that to a tub of goop + compressor.

Space saver wheel really means cost saver wheel. They still fit in the same sized wheel well but they cost half that of a full sized steel spare. That’s why they came about.

And much reduced weight to help get the car into the correct emissions ratings don’t forget ;)

Filled the space with the AdBlue container instead for reduced emissions.

Yyyyyeah. But that came with a corresponding increase in NVH as the trunk floor uses the mass of the wheel as a damper. So they had to add more back in to prevent drumming.

Nice to see MB’s engineering research parameters are like ours.....’yip let’s do that,it’s a great idea’...2 years later ‘you know that thing we did 2 years ago, well that’s caused.....’ :D
