I have a c220 cdi 2006 and its a diesel and it is rather noisy.
Is there any thing I can do to quieting it down.
I have tried 2 stroke in the diesel changed to top price diesel.
Any ideas

No longer own a Mercedes Benz
I've got a 2005 one and they are just noisier than their bigger brothers I've found. I can live with it for the economy to be fair.

The 220cdi 4 pot engines aren't known for their refinement and quietness although to be fair neither are BMW's 2.0 4 pot Diesels, VAG 4 pots etc. However the economy is excellent with them.

Normal fuel with some 2 stroke is the most effective way to quieten them down a bit. Premium diesel is slightly thinner so it'll be more noisy.

Should be achieving more tbh, my freind's W211 E220CDi is achieving around 49mpg on mainly motorway journeys... Although I have read some members not achieving the book mpg such as Craigixviii , who's only getting mid 30's mpg.

Nope, that won't help very much with diesel clatter. Extra heavy layer (bitumen) insulation on the bulkhead is the way to go, and that requires the full dash to be removed.

I get 37 average trogging around country lanes in my E220 W212 facelift, that is from as-new delivery mileage.

I think Yugguy was meaning swap with John Laidlaw (who has an E63) ;)

Don't use a tuning box. If you want more power get a remap done properly on a rolling road.

I get about 52-58mpg going into work, about 15 mile journey, which I am happy with. I use BP/Shell with a dash of 2 stoke and seems to work as my 220 seems to be quieter than Allans! Not by a lot though. :)
