Recently my driver side window has started squeaking when I wind it down. I'm pretty sure its the rubber seal on the door along the bottom of the window that's causing the problem. It doesn't always do it but does do it more often than not. I guess the rubber has just hardened a bit. Anyone any idea how to soften it up?

You could try some WD40 down the guides/channels - not the seals as it will smear the glass.

What's wrong with WD40? Doesnt perish anything & is a long lasting lube.

Silicon has always been available to me but I've always had better results with using WD40. Each to their own I suppose.

WD40 is not a lubricant but a water dispersant. Silicone lubricant is the thing for the guide channels. As for the horizontal seal, try treating the window glass with 'rain-ex' or similar. Might stop it squeaking.

Says on the can it's a lubricant. Also says it stops squeaks. Maybe we can get them under trade desciptions act.
