Recived a call from MB after sales dept friday. Would you belive that now the cars been in with them 5 on times now, they have informed me they have identified a fault within the gearbox, and they have repaired flushed the box and replaced the oil and filter. They then went on to inform me the engine and box must then be tested from cold.
Fingers crossed they have finally got to the bottom of it...

I'll second that, and would you believe I now have a problem with my own gearbox!
I do not know how I would react to this, surely they will change the box.
I have mentioned to them re change the box. They informed me its not felt that its a mmechanical fault.
As a side issue,Omega007 - what do you think of the B Class?
Unbelievable
Do you think MB should offer my some form of good will gesture as they have had the car for a around 5 weeks in total.
Mercedes took the car back and have let me have a Nice new B Class to run around in.
They have had the car 3 weeks now and its looking likley I wont get it back for another week.
They have informed me they are guided by technical dept and each time the replace as per instruction the fault dissapears for a day or so then returns.
Iam i bit fed up now as I have owned the car for 7 months and in that time ist spent around 6/7 in work shop.
Well iam certainly hoping the fully rectify the fault before handing the car back to me. I dread to think if the fault was to return after I take it back.
Just not what you expect from a 1 year old car - certainly put me off buying a newish car, not sure if I would recommmend a Merc, although Iam sure they are generally great cars, just not in this instance.
Where would I stand should the fault return once I take the car back, hate to be pre-emptive but as the car has now been in 5 times iam sure I can be excused for not feeling confident.
Thanks in advance
I have only just picked this up having for the past few weeks been involved in heated discussions with the dealer who sold me my vehicle, resulting in a cash discount to my bank account, and we are still not there yet.
Mercedes main dealers have not solved my gearbox problem, but by hook or by crook, they will, or I will know the reason why and so will the MD of Mercedes Benz, Germany.
I am sick and tired of Mercedes gearbox problems; there are far too many complaints to be ignored.
Many of our members will have had no gearbox problems and God bless them, but, we talking about Mercedes owners, both here and outside of this forum, who “have” had problems.
My Mercedes is a one owner, full service history, 76.000 miles, 52-plate reg.
Yours is only one year old, no doubt with considerably less mileage and sold to you by a Mercedes main dealer…..if you still have problems, ask them for a full refund.
If they refuse, contact me, I will give you my private email address and we can take it from there.
Regards
Geoff.
Many thanks Geoff,
I contacted the dealership today, as this is now the 4th week they have had the car. I have been calling them each week asking for an update. They have informed me, each time they replace something and then send the data to technical they respond, the fault is not rectified.......
I suggested to them that it is my feeling technical are using my car as a hospital case in order to collate data.... I went on to remind them that they had ample oportunity to rectify the fault when I initially returned the car to them which was around 6 weeks after the purchase date, since then the car had been back and forth 4 times where they had the car collectivly for around 3 week, and I dont feel they took the problem seriously, it was only when I emaild the dealership explining that I was getting nowhere fast with the service dept that they intervned. I also said to them today that should they not have the fault rectified and the car back with me by the end of this week I would be seeking a full refund.
They duly reminded me that the car does need to fully rectified before handing it back to me. I duly reminded them that they had the oportunity to rectify the fault when I 1st returned it to them.
I will see how this week progresses. Maybe I will be in need of your support

PS. I feel I should add: I am still proud to be the owner of a Mercedes Benz, that prestigious star on the bonnet or the grill still means something to me, it sets me apart from the madding crowd, but the glorious days of Mercedes Benz, are well and truly over,
Mercedes, are now, no different to any other manufacturer, they must compete in the market with other manufacturers, reliability is a major issue, not to be dismissed.
To do so, is a mistake, witness, the fall of our once great automotive industry and the emergence of the Asian empire.
I may very well throw my pretentious aspirations to the wall and buy a Honda or a Toyota. Yes, they have had their problems, but they do make amends and get them sorted…in other words, they care.
