Hi,

I have leak on the lower intercooler hose (pipe just below the resonator that goes into intercooler). part number 35 in attached photo.
I am thinking of change the hose but thought that why is it leaking from their in the first place?
Do I need to fix some other issue prior to changing the hose?
Isn't this hose for air that is cooled through intercooler before it goes into Turbo?

Thanks
Azeem

Smart + others :)
We change loads of lower hoses, I think they split due to fatigue, causing the internal braiding to fail.

Thanks. It makes sense but if I put a new hose, wouldn't the oil flow into intercooler? Is it normal oil flowing into intercooler?

I am slightly worried that the problem may lies some where else while i fix the obvious? which in this case is hose that goes into intercooler.
Is the oil going into intercooler from Turbo is normal?

you will always see a small amount of oil going between the turbo and the intercooler, in my experience.

Thanks. I will change the hose and observe the amount of oil in intercooler.

Thanks Star and Turbopete for your thoughts.

I changed the lower pipe and there was a small amount of oil in pipe, nothing in intercooler. I couldn't notice any wear from the removed pipe but we changed it with a new one. There was a minor leak on the resonator where we put some fluid to seal it.
Thanks again.

Update : I have inspected the changed hose this morning and there was still oil seep/seam on the pipe. I thought the new pipe would fix the leaking issue :( any ideas?

It looks as if the oil is seeping through resonator. Any ideas about part number for resonator?

Questioned the same thing with an indie many times before, apparently it is absolutely normal and nothing to worry about.

Same issue with my C250 CDI, I have read else where that this is oil from cam cover breather. When we removed the air intake pipe off of the turbo today (rebuilt engine and new turbo 5700 miles ago) there is oil residue in the compressor housing, from what i understand oil is pooling in the intercooler hose and seeps through... I find it hard to believe this happening on a completely rebuilt engine, new pistons, rebore, rings etc etc, but it is... This would also imply they did this from the factory, which i just can't believe... so the only solution i can come up with is putting a catch tank in the breather hose and see if that stops it

Why bother. Not hurting anything and may even help to lubricate flap swivels. Quite normal.
