Viano - 2012 - OM651 Engine - 2.2
Has anyone here had the merc software recall done on the OM651 (2.2L) engine?

I can see lots of posts about one of the other effected engines (3ltr?) and the NOx sensor problems, but very few comments on the OM651/2.2Ltr model

Anyone had it done? How's fuel economy?

I have declined their kind invitation,
well ignored it to be accurate.

It's purely in their favour as a legality for deception on their part . You as an end user won't benefit from it at all . You'll use more fuel ,the car won't change up to higher gears , and more ad blue will be squirting in than before .

My om651 apparently is not subject to any recall. That's according to 3 different mb dealers

Had it done on our SLC250d 4 years ago. Initially it wouldn't go into 9th until about 75MPH, where as before it would go into 9th under 70MPH.
Now it will hold 9th on the flat at 65MPH, drops into 8th about 63MPH. Overall fuel consumption for the last 12 months 54MPG.
More or less the same story with my 212 E350CDI, but the consumption has increased by about 2/3MPG.

If you go onto Gov.uk MOT checker and enter your VRN, there is a drop down menu showing any outstanding recalls :)

A lot of MB cars on Facebook Marketplace have outstanding recalls.

I had it done and 6 months later had Nox sensor failure. Cannot say if that's related or not.
I didn't notice any real difference in mpg figures but, a full tank of adblue used to say it would last 15,000 miles or more, after the update a full tank was only good for 6000 miles according to the dash. Having said that, it never used much adblue before or after the update despite how many miles were on the dash display so not sure if that even has any meaning.

Is that from the police recalling them to their rightful owner
I spent half my time pursuing stolen XR2 & 3's in the 80's.
I think most of these are the steering wheel air bag, & the Nox mod.
