To add to the ongoing list of issues with my E400d, for the past 10k miles i have been seeing regular (say every 3k mi) 'top up oil' warnings.
I have added about 1.5l oil over 10k mi.

Car is at the dealer today for a host of warranty issues (most they claim they cannot find/diagnose, and have managed to brick my comand system) and service.
I have asked the question about the oil, they have responded saying that 1L per 600!!! miles is considered acceptable consumption!!?? Anyone else been told this c**p?
Across a host of different vehicles we have, some with 3/400,000 miles on them, none come even close to this level of consumption! Thoughts?

1ltr per 1,000 is / was common on many manufacturers Nissan and Saab being 2 I knew. I’ve never had a Mercedes use any significant amount after the run in period.

Hardly good for the CAT and DPF…

Hopefully my car is still 'running in'. My worries are also for the DPF of course!

I would say 1.5l over 10k is within spec.
It's a totally different engine but all of the om605 engines I've had have used some oil, up to about a litre every 5k miles and it didn't escalate or cause any other issues in any of them. One I ran for 100k trouble free miles.
