C220 cdi 2004 every so often goes into limp mode with P0244 fault code (turbocharger wastegate solenoid ). If the car is up to temp and driven hard no problems but seems to be at lower speed and when cold this fault occurs. Any ideas?

Nothings simple! Just had blocked dPf fault but removed it and manualy cleared it. If it is put on a specialist machine should that pin point it?

The DPF couldn't be regenerated so I bought a new one but it was mm out and never going to fit correctly, so we steam cleaned it backwards and the fault cleared and never came back on. I also replaced the sensor on the air box. Now this fault and the turbo seems a little more noisy than usual.

EML light came on today witha brand new fault code, which was no flow detected in EGR. Can anyone tell me where the EGR is located so I can give it a check and clean as need be. Could a blocked EGR give the fault code linked to the wastgate solenoid? I'm very confused!!

egr valve is located to the n/s/r of the engnie, on top. it is bolted into a cast aluminium pipe with 2x torx headed screws, and is electrically controlled. on it you will see a black plastic cover, remove this and clean away the carbon build up with eg carb cleaner, they are prone to jam in here. actually removing the whole valve is easy enough, but not likely to help much, but you could clean here too.

the wastegate solenoid fault, we need more info. there is no actual solenoid on your wastegate, but a servo motor (y100/1). at a guess i would say your code is logged by an incorrect position of this servo - this cannot be linked to the egr, only either the turbo or the servo itself. this is of course guess work without your actual code and specific definition.

The turbo seems very noisy, like the blades are hitting the housing. When the engine is shut off you here it for a few seconds so I know it's definately the turbo as that's the only thing still spinning.
