I am about as interested in changing gear in an electric car as operating the washing machine.

Make it more comfortable, quieter, cheaper, fixable and in particular run for longer

and if you have any budget left go to the pub.

Somehow I don’t think it’s aimed at us

It kind of reminds me of those stick-on steering wheels that you bought your child to go driving with you.

Perhaps there's a Toyota version coming, I shall bear it in mind for she who must be obeyed once a month as Christmas looms.

Do people buy an EV outright or are they all leased through finance from the manufacture, and return it after 3 years or so. That would make more sense than paying for a brand new battery after about 10 years....................OMG, I can't even believe I am saying things concerning EV's.
When I seriously considered buying an EV in 2010 (yes I did) £7000 for the car but I had to lease the battery  Or I could buy the car and battery for £11000. I then was put on the waiting list for one. By the end of the day I was removed from the waiting list because I starting to ask too many questions relating to feasibility of giving up a petrol car for an EV and it made MB uncomfortable the more questions we asked. In the end they told me to leave as an EV would not suit my requirements :(...........I've never looked back :)
I was asking mainly mileage, charging availability, cost etc. It was claimed this EV would do 84 miles on a full charge. The truth was no it wouldn't on normal road use. They had no proof it would do 84 miles and so from that day my enthusiasm for the EV has been zero.

That was 13 years ago, though, things have moved on a bit since then.;):)

Very true, Rory. But EVs are made out to be the Spawn of Satan. There not of course, just different. And that fact alone, is enough for a lot of people, who don't like change or something different.:)
They will prob come good if not overtaken by hudrogen, however I not interested in Bein part of makers r and d so let them get on with it for a decade, or two by which time it. Cud all be academic 4 me.

If I were considering buying an EV, I would be extremely concerned the way the insurance industry is viewing these cars.
I've read of two companies that now refuse to insure them. How many will follow and at what increase in premium.
ICE cars are bad enough to insure currently, especially Range Rovers in London, but EV's look to be following the same path.
Definitely watch and wait Tony.
Dividends and golf to sponsor!!

They dont need a gearbox so its pointless, just more to go wrong, besides i think iyt would ruin the traffic light gp.
