Having cured all suspension, steering and seating issues, we are now considering the ticking coming from the RH Cylinder BanK.

I suspect worn out hydraulic valve lifters and guides.

Any words of wisdom on best way to tackle a Top end refurb?

only if necessary

would be a good rule of thumb. They are prone to a bit of tappet noise from there, but unless it were starting to get very noisy, I'm not sure I'd bother. Perhaps line it up and do it with the timing chain tensioner at 75-100k?

Thanks for the advice.

The engine seems to run well, no smoke, just ticks at tickover.

Might try a power test then look into cost of lining valves.

Timing belt already done, currently 101,000.

Planning a 170 mile trip to Mercedes Benz World in Surrey soon, see haw the Italian Tune Up principal works.
