Hi, I am new to this club but have been an MB owner of various models for nearly 20 years and have recently acquired the above 1992 SL. I bought this at auction without understanding some of the pitfalls and yes the head gasket had gone along with the OVP relay, the Idle air control valve, viscous fan and various other bits. To cut a long story short I managed to get it running sweetly last summer and it recently let me down with the symptoms of a failed IAC valve, ie will not run at tickover. The following day it ran fine. I have read about the state of the wiring looms of cars this age and this is my question does anyone repair these?
