R230 power socket

I want to put a 12v power socket into my SL's glove box so that I can power a DAB receiver, has anyone done this mod and if so any tips?

Not in R230, and not in a glove box, but I fitted one in my old car in the driver's footwell - aftermarket, permanently on, for solar charger:

... and more recently, one in the boot in my current C169.

I bought an OEM socket from MB Oxford and Richard from ComandOnline very kindly sent me an OEM plug - the rest was easy: power from the rear passenger socket (as intended by MB - same fuse listed for both sockets), ground point was nearby:

To me it looks as if it was always there:

Looks like you could do a roadside appendix removal operation with that tool kit !

I did better: rewired turn indicator sockets in 169's headlights via the dipped beam bulb hatch
