I have acquired a 2004 S500 and I am just trying to get through all the features and settings with reasonable success. The one hurdle I can't seem to get through regardless of which manual I consult, is scrolling through preset stations while using the buttons on the steering wheel. When I change stations it scans to the next available station that is available. What i would like it to do is scroll through my preset stations and not every single available station there is (which must be hundreds). Does anyone know of anyway of doing this? My preset stations are all set on the command centre and work fine from there.
In the manual there is a diagram that shows what the screen should look like on the dashboard (where the speedometer is). It shows the station you are on, the band (fm/am) and if it actually is one of the presets. What it does not show on my screen is the "sp" which is in the manual's diagram. I dont know if that has anything to do with it, but no matter which buttons I hit I can't get that "sp" to come up in the top right corner.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think you have the option to scan or scroll using the menus in the cluster or the COMAND.
I'm guessing its set to scan now.

I assumed it was a setting something like that but I have no idea where that setting is or how to change it, it is no where in the manual. Any ideas would be appreciated

I think its in the cluster menus. Check through the general or convenience menus. I'm sorry I can't be specific but these things seem to change with each model and year...

I have a feeling that this was one of the options deleted on the facelift (2003). This has come up before and to my knowledge was not resolved. Works fine on the 2000, comand 2.5.

Providing the radio is indicated in the cluster then mine changes to the next preset station, it is a Command 2.5

I dont know what Command 2.5 means. Is that the section is the manual? If it is, my manuals only have page numbers (maybe because I'm in Canada). I would really love to know how to program the preset stations in the cluster to only scroll through the presets stations as this scan thing is a real inconvenience.
I have read both my S-Class Operator's Manual and my Comand Operator's Manual thoroughly, and like I said in my first post, the only thing that doesnt jive is that "SP" in the diagram that is supposed show on the cluster screen when I am tuned into the radio. I feel like I am missing something very simple....it's driving me crazy!

It works fine on my COMAND-APS....

COMAND 2.5 is the type of COAMD unit fitted to Malcolm's car. My car has the COMAND-APS unit. I am unsure as to the type you will have (does it say on the COMAND handbook?)

Either way sit in the car switch COMAND on and ignition to position #1 and have a scroll through the menus in the cluster (Those that show up in the Speedoemter etc..) See if you have one that says Audio or Radio. Mine shows the current station playing with two big arrows above and below the name. Pressing the ^ or V buttons moves through the presets. (As Malcolm indicated)

If you only see a frequency display (no station name) then you have the option to scan slelected, the menu to change this has got to be in there somewhere!! Have a wander through the different levels.

Unless as M6AJJ states, its been deleted, seems pretty daft step if it has (not doubting you M6AJJ)

Where's Alfie when you need him?? :D
