Hi,

The SRS light has illuminated on my W203 with the following message 'Restraint system service'. This warning doesn't appear in the manual, and most other SRS faults I've seen online state 'restraint system defective'. So I'm not sure if this is an actual error, or a service indicator.

Typically, it's occurred on a Friday and I've got an MOT booked for Monday (local garage, not MB or Indie)...

I guess I need the codes read by STAR, but does anyone have an experiences or suggestions of simple things? The wiring under the passenger seat 'looks' ok - that's apparently a common SRS fault to do with the seat sensor.

Thanks for any hints or suggestions which I might be able to try DIY.

Battery low.

When I disconnected my battery once I had this - after about an hour it stopped. I suspect low voltage might have same effect?

After reading various threads about defective passenger seat sensors, I banged the seat cushion a bit and disconnected and remade the wiring connections. After all that the light still remained on, so I gave up. Next time I drove the car the light went out after a few mins and hasn't returned.
