Hi all, the reverse lights on my 320 CLK (W208) have stopped working

I have checked both bulbs and teh fuse but it is not them !

Does anyone have any idea what else it could be that I should check ?

Thanks

Hi,
I believe the reversing lights are switched via the gear selector unit, there is a switch on this selector mechanism which can go. It can sometimes be repaired by using switch cleaner, but if not as its not available separetly you have to replace the entire selector mechanism.
This is of course where i would look if the bulbs and fuse is ok.

OK guys. I followed the excellent instructions from Malcolm and removed the trim surround teh auto gear selector.

Unfortunately, when I did get to it, I couldnt see where this switch is in the gear selector.

Below is a photo of what it loooked like with the trim removed (note this is not a photo of my car but looks exactly the same)

Can someone point me in the right place to look.

Thanks.

I will print off the instruction for the gear shift removal for you and post it in a while

No, I'll do that first, before checking the gear selector again
