S350 - Suspension problems -'53 plate

Hi All.
i just joined , after googling Merc.Air suspension problems and this Merc. group came up ☺..
i need to find the cheapest way to either , recondition the Cars Air struts or get replacements ? - its a W220 S350, UK plated '53 - (2003 maybe ? ) - the Cars ride is getting harder each week and im getting different knocks & bangs ....basically the bushes need sorting - but its the front & rear Air struts that im not sure about - can i buy the parts as a kit and restore the struts myself ? ....help - plz ??

I think I'm right that Phil at Welwyn Merx can recondition struts , his details should be on the Specialist finder .

ABC not air Wighty....
I'm not aware of any rebuild kits for air struts but you can buy rebuilt struts from a number of sources.

Why do you think air struts are gone?
You can test each individually easy and cheep for leaks.
On the other hand shock absorber it self can go but i dont know if they are available to by separate from air bag.
Bushes can go on rear or front suspensions and give you bad ride.
Rear air struts have rose bushes at the bottom eye ,easy to replace and cheep to.
Check it all , and find what is giving you issue before going for struts.

There are some super cheap Airmatic struts on ebay (£150) which I am giving a go on a S320 CDI runabaout. IF they are are any good, I will let you know.

As you say though, you will probably have a few bushes and arms that need changing too

yeah ...i shouldve mentioned before , my S350 does have a few bushes that need changing - im gonna do that .but on the Air struts ,apart from a knocking noise coming off the Airstruts, there's been some sort of oil/fluid that has 'leaked' out and the road dirt has stuck to the outsides of the struts - i say 'leaked' out , cos whatever oil or fluid it was , that the dirt stuck to , aint coming out anymore -
