Not sure what system you have in your vehicle, but I have just enquired with main dealer and the disc is £99, but you also have to purchase a license at £100.
There is Command on line apparently forum sponsor I would say they would be your best starting point.

With your VIN handy, contact comand.co.uk (Richard or Alfie on here). They will, from your VIN, find out exactly what nav system you have, will be able to tell you how to find out what is currently installed, and thus exactly what you need to get your system up to date. However, as above, your wallet will say ouch.

I have a 2011 E350CDI, upgrade is by CD. Upgrade is too expensive, & its not a particularly good sat nav.
I am using Waze on my iPhone, light years ahead of the MB one & its free.

I have the same system, in the end I download the Becker software to my laptop and then download the updated map, which costs me £80, you then take out the Map Pilot from the glove box, plug this into the laptop with the supplied USB cable. As soon as the software recognises the little black box you can then update it.
It took my laptop a while and a few goes to pick up the Map Pilot box.

Becker map pilot is best sourced from your local Mercedes dealer. There are people selling the units on the internet but many have been fiddled with and wont update. MB UK has supported the pricing so the best and most reliable source for those units is them.

He's got the hardware by the sounds of it, just requires the map update.

I have the much older Command system with a CD in the boot. In 2010 I bought an upgrade disk from Mercedes for about £200 - ouch. I could have bought a Tom Tom for the same price or less.

Last year I decided to take a chance and bought a £30 upgrade on e-bay despite the warnings of doom. I reckoned that if the worst happened I could reload the "genuine" 2010 disk. Worked perfectly including traffic warnings.

If Mercedes or one of the other approved suppliers did an upgrade for under £100 I would have gone for it but not prepared to pay £180 for what is a poor system that can only do 4 digits of a post code.

for infrequent use Google maps is really good, plus you can search for a POI and then hit navigate.

Check the temperature of the nav drive in the boot. Using a copied disk will cause the unit to run hotter. Once you go to a newer disk on the NTG1 system you cannot go back to an older one.

Reading the above reminds me how I miss TV...

(Not taking sides either, although I use an NGT2 with a disc from my local MB dealer)

If you're close to Lightwater Surrey go see comand.co.uk, they'll sort your problem.
