Hi everyone.
I am quite new to this forum and would really appreciate any help and information from you more experienced members. I purchased a 06 C220 CDi SE with 60000 miles on the clock a few months ago. I contacted Mercedes to find out if they had any recorded information and they provided me with the following

27th July 2006, Mercedes-Benz of Preston 17,469

7th June 2007 Mercedes-Benz of Bolton 36,000

3rd June 2009 Cicely Continental Authorized Repairer (Preston) 54,524

Would the above be classed as full service history? And what would be my next step be regarding my next service would it just be oil and filter, fuel filter a general service or would it be more in-depth . My dashboard displays “service B in 11000 miles, not sure what that means. I would just like to know what to expect and know what I’m talking about when I take it in for a service rather than some greenhorn that’s knows nothing. Any advice and information would be highly appreciated. Thanks to everyone

Hi & Welcome,

Have you looked in the service book to check the stamps? The ASSYST (service computer) can go to ~18K between services, although the newer ones are on 12 months or 15.5K miles.
B service is the larger of the two, to get an idea on cost give your car details to your local dealer and they should be able to give you details of what is required and the costs. You can then compare it against a Mercedes Specialist, I wouldn't recommend a general garage unless the mechanic has a very good knowledge of Mercedes.

You ideally need to know what was done at the previous services - I presume, as you asked for the service record, that you don't have the service book. As mentioned above, the car will run to around 18K or so between services depending on the type of use. If it does low mileage then the maximum time is 2 years.

A & B services are basically oil & filter changes and some checks, with the checks being more detailed on the B service. Pollen filter & key batteries are changed on the B service.

Everything else is "additional work". If you put the car's information in here it will give you a good indication of what needs doing: http://lite.servicemercedes.co.uk/pc/pc_start.asp (this is a genuine Mercedes website).

One significant item, if your car is an auto, is that MB started recommending an ATF change at 37,500/4yrs. I've lost track of where we are with that - I'm not sure they still call for it. Your car may have already had it done, but the dealer may well encourage you to get it done anyway.

Hi Blobcat and Rory.
Thanks to you both for the quick response and the helpful information you provided, very much appreciated. I will now try and find a trustworthy Mercedes specialist in the West London area or even travel a distance to a garage that is recommended by someone who’s had a 1st hand experience. It’s all about finding someone you can trust as there is so many sharks out there these days. Thanks again and take care.:)

There are some very good independants on this forum, if you fancy a drive. You won't be the only member driving out of the smoke to get affordable quality servicing.

Yes, this can still be part of the service. It is decided on chassis number - can't think when the chassis break is though, MB will tell you.

Is it still a one off at ~40K miles or is it changed again?

Hi, and welcome from me too,

The 11,000 miles to next service worries me a little as the maximum miles it can display is 13,000, it then counts down to zero according to the way the car is driven and the type of journeys undertaken, this can stretch the interval to aound 18,000 as indicated in blobcat's earlier post.

As you bought the car at 60,000 and the last recorded service was at 54,000, I would have expected the indicator to read somewhere between 7,000 and 9,000 to the next service.
11,000 suggests to me that the indicator has been reset shortly before you bought the car as this is a simple task using the buttons on your steering wheel.

Yes it's still around 40K, but it will not show on the ESS at any subsequent service, if it has not been done you have to ask them to change the fluid as an extra job outside of the service schedule

That's a very good point. The miles to service drops in 100 mile chunks but it can drop at a rate as slow as 100 miles for every 150 driven.

I think the only circumstance in which the miles to service display can increase is if ASSYST asks for oil to be added, but I've only heard of that happening when the car is close to needing a service, and doubt that a 60K mile car would need much oil adding.
