Hi,

Couple of weeks ago, I hit a pot hole on the near side and as soon as I hit it both ABS and EPS messages came on the dashboard and I immediately lost all power.

Since then I have not been able to turn on the engine or get it out of park and when I do try the fan starts to run high. I believed it may have been the suspension sensor which I have changed but still no luck.

Would this be something to do with the ECU? Any suggestions would be a huge help!

Thanks

Hello and welcome,

I'd be checking all the electrical connections and that the front starter battery is still connected

I would be getting a code reader on it

Interesting that your car has EPS. My 2004 SL has ESP, which is the Electronic Stability Programme, a form of traction control. I wonder if EPS does the same thing ?

IF ESP is active, the orange warning triangle comes on, to warn that you are about to visit the hedge, I wonder if your knock has upset the ESP
/ABS sensor ?

I believe ESP and ABS use the same sensors to detect wheel spin, so I suspect that is what you have damaged. You must have hit quite a pot hole.

The ESP message does look a little faint and maybe its not really the case it also says display defective

Thanks for the replies already, will have a look at the location of the ESP sensor. Having a read on what could be causing the gear shift not getting out of park is potentially the brake switch?

That is quite common, it can be the gear selector pawl, this leaves the proud SL owner stuck in park. Easy enough to fix, well documented on here and elsewhere

Smart + others :)
Sounds like it lost coms to the engine ecu or the ecu isn’t powered up as the fan is running full speed.
