SL320 1999 Intro...

Hi folks,

I've just signed up to the forum as I've recently bought a 1999 SL320. I bought it at auction (risky) but it's now been repaired serviced and MOT'd and seems to be OK. I'm hoping to find some connections here for getting the windows replaced in the softop as they've perished and some other small repairs but i'll have a search of the forum instead of asking on here.

I also drive a 2006 C220 estate.

Thanks Lost Kiwi, will need to try and find one in the Aberdeen area but might end up in the central belt if I can't find one up here. local bodyshop is mending the front bumper just now. The cable tie look, albeit practical, is not easy on the eye...

The drivers side seat is burst at the side so i was thinking of buying a used grey panel and getting it changed over before giving the seats a proper treatment. wonder hoe difficult that is with the electrics underneath? I'll add some pictures of the interior once the bumper is fixed. There are some other tired bits inside but generally it's pretty good. need to get the door speakers recovered too.

the garage replaced the condenser unit which is good given it's crept over 20 degs in Aberdeen of late - this level of temperature can be fatal to the natives in the far north....

also, not sure if i like the alloy colour. will need to look for the original colour and get it matched.

Which part of the seat is damaged? The backrest or base? If it's the base just 2 screws hold it in and it's a 2-3 minute job to remove. The backrest is a whole different ballgame.....

some updates...

I've had the bumper repaired and also had the windows replaced on the soft top so there's been some progress. annoyingly it looks like the car has been resprayed but some criminal has done it with the hardtop fitted so there is an untidy over/underlap around the rear of the car.

The stereo remains a mystery as there is a changer in the trunk/boot but no hint on the head unit as to how to operate it. The stereo is an Audio 30. The speakers all work intermittently so need to try and work out if it's an amp issue or something else. could be any one of a number of causes I suppose...
