I had to replace all 4 tyres yesterday on my C250TD sport. The original tyres were "sport continental" but I went for budget tyres at £46 each as I wasn't prepared to pay too much.
I am delighted I didn't as the ride is much better and smoother. Its amazing the difference as I now don't feel every lump and bump. What a difference it really is far superior and enjoyable.
I appreciate the sport tyres were probably lower profile but hey I am delighted and IMO you can keep the sport tyres, I prefer a smoother more refined drive.
I am amazed that these tyres have made such a difference, the wife ever noticed.

yes but you may find the budget tyres last half the time.

but as long as your happy thats all that counts.

I think the only difference you will find is that the new tyre wall will flex more in heavy cornering. If you make an allowance for this, and not many people use the full potential of the tyres anyway, you may have found a better compromise re comfort. It will be interesting to see how they perform in the long run re wear and grip.

well you pay for what you get.

it would be interesting to know what we are comparing here. budget tyres are budget tyres for a reason but £46 each may not mean budget. just cheaper than want the car had previous. lower profiles tyres are harder and tend to improve handling at the expense of ride comfort.

miy high performance tyres are rubbish in normal driving and i hope they wear out quick so i can get some proper tyres on.

but you need to remember that tyres are the only thing that keeps you on the road, so its always best to check out how the tyre performs.

The tyres are

Torneo Stunner 205/55 16 91v.

I,ve measured the wheel trim and from edge to edge this is 17 inches, however from the slight indentation in the wheel it measures 16 inches. So with above digits on the tyre I take it the wheels are 16 inch.

Any comments re tyre type and wheel size appreciated

i agree with you here totally, its the only thing between you and the road, I think its wise to always invest in the best tyres you can (reflected in their price) Its also well worth shopping around and avoid the dealers like the plague for tyres......there markup is huge, and independent is the only way with tyres (am i just harping on here...lol)

Though I have never heard of them, they are made in Italy, sounds good.
Who knows, I think that I would have rather read a test somewhere first. the technical write up reads well from the web site, time will tell.
