Hi, please help as the MB main dealer said they couldn't hear the very loud squeal/whine from right front wheel!

It happens when first setting off from cold, and usually after turning a corner. It's my Husband's car, so I don't know which way he turns lol.

After strong braking, the noise stops.

The front and rear pads have been replaced, and the discs pronounced fine by Kwik Fit (MB main dealer always try to sell new discs with every set of pads, grrr).

Any ideas for me to take to the garage?

Very many thanks and Merry Christmas,

Louise aka Top-Down (my SLK not my clothing, wish I'd chosen a different username...)

Err hello Top -Down. Great name.

I suspect it is brake related. Get them strpped down and properly looked at. It will be very simple fix I suspect ;)

I had a similar problem on my E class. It turned out that the back plate behind the brake disc had been knocked putting it very close to the disc and that the front hub bearing needed adjustment. Once things were warmed up the play in the bearing meant that the disk just avoided rubbing the back plate.

Bending of the back plate and readjustment of the bearing cured the problem.
