That's a great offer and the learning would make the journey well worth while. Thanks I will take you up on that.

First I need to get my damn 639 running so I can come.
Ah yeah there is that small problem to contend with first lol.
Well when ever you do get it running give me a shout and I can always get over your direction, make a day of it and drop my wife off at meadow hell for a few hours.

Empty garage, awaiting new toy :)
Launch x431 is way more expensive than iCarsoft. iCarsoft while not perfect is a pretty decent starting point in most cases.

Well thats because X431 isnt dedicated to just MB,
it covers a whole range of popular marqes (over 200) so you can go to work with the tool and it soon pays for its self :)

Full list of vehicle coverage: select >respective category< (overseas) then click (show all) top right.

Personally I dont see the point of icarsoft it works like a standard OBDII tool targeted at some MB software but nothing you cant get from a lot of advanced generic OBDII tools out there already.

Seems like an expensive "have a fiddle" tool.

Sorry bad day .......... and yes related to this very topic.

The point is the advanced generic tools cost more than the iCarsoft. It's about having a tool to get some diagnostic codes out of your MB without paying for generic ability. Granted if you want to read multiple makes its not ideal but as a pure MB tool it's a decent enough starting point. Like I said...it's not perfect but its a reasonable start.

I only have MBs so why would I want a tool that can read Audi, BMW or Vauxhall?

iCarsoft reads engine fault codes of other makes. I used mine on a couple of different ones. I think it's ok for the price for the MB stuff it does. However the V2 claims to deactivate SBC brakes and it didn't work on my SL. I contacted the UK agents who I bought it from and they are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
