Hi

Ive got a 2002 e320 cdi and it comes up with 1 malfunction (STEERING GEAR OIL VISIT WORKSHOP) but when i took it to my local garage to put it on the diagnostic machine it reported no faults at all. Ive checked the power steering oil and thats topped up correctly. Any ideas guys??
Thanks

Contemplating my next
My car has just come up with that fault [twice in last two weeks] when turning tight corners.

Had the same message come up a couple of years ago and it turned out to be a leaking rear self levelling shock/strut as apparently they are on same reservoir

As shiny says it all linked to the suspension as well.

All it says in WIS is that this must be checked visually, disconnecting gaitors, to check for oil inside, etc
