Strange Plastic Bit

On my 320CE there is a bit of plastic on the passenger door that I don't understand what it's there for. There isn't one on the drivers door.

Does anybody know what it's for?

The service book slides in there and you can see when the next service is due. Mine was on the drivers side on my 92K 320 CE
