After extolling the virtues of the CE, its only gone and flattened its battery... and to make matters worse I've parked it with its nose in the hedge making it difficult to get under the bonnet.

I'd like to roll it back a bit (could be fun on a gravel drive ) but I can't take it out of Park.

Will it allow me to do this once I put some charge in the battery?

A ha! Did a search, turned key in ignition (no idiot lights, no current...) foot on brake and a bit of rocking backwards and forwards and she popped out of park.

Now to start electrical trouble shooting..

Well I hav been through 150 pages and there is nothing listed for the lock up other than the engine cannot be turned off at the same time as the lever locks up.
This is a bit of a shock to me as I have the same set up.

Maybe if BlackC55 comes on he will have an idea

The only thing that I can come up with is to do a basic re set, that is to disconnect the 2 batteries for 10 mins and connect up again, sometimes this works

Sorry about this

Stuck in park

Malcolm,

Thanks for trying - I have to say it came as a bit of a shock to me too. Luckily the car was parked in the driveway when it happened. Which I suppose is where it's going to sit for a while! I can't see how a recovery vehicle could get in to take it to a garage.

I will try a reset as you suggested - I think I only have one battery. Will this affect the Comand system?

Regards

David

No, nothing will need coding, they are only done once from new, based on the SL I was sure that you have 2 batteries, are you sure that you have not got a little one nearside front just under the windscreen
