Hello and i hope someone can point me in the right direction.
I have a 1995 non-sprinter 310d fitted with a turbo and intercooler, it has covered around 250,000miles and has developed an annoying engine fault,
whem warm the engine seems to rev up by itself:
For example, i accellerate from 1st to 2nd and the revs stay up there for what seems like ages before returning to normal idle, and also i can almost never get it back to normal idle speed when warm, its always higher than 1000.

any thoughts and ideas would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Nope just inlet, if it was exhaust it would blow. There's loads of things it could be but from what info you have given it's hard to get an idea on it. Check that and if it's not loose, come back to me with more info.

Also check that the rack on the pump aint seized, as this was also a fault with them. It's the bit the back of the inj pump it advances the pump on acceleoration and if it sticks it revs up and some times wont rev depending on where it's stuck at.

Some more things to check.
Throttle rod from pump to block drops off or seizes.
The damper, looks like a shocker drops off and causes funny throttle problems.
Also the diaphragm at the back of the pump goes and gives funny acceloration etc probs.
Hope these help.

Thanks for all the info, but i think i've sorted it,
All the linkage was dry to i;ve greased it all and the main throttle return spring was snapped, so replaced than and all seems well so far, (touch wood).

Cheers for the help ray.
