After having my 2010 black, LWB S Class written off after a crash on 4th June (Lady pulled out on me, car is now uneconomical to repair :( ), I have bitten the bullet and bought this 2016 beauty...

My 7th S Class and the first without a black interior... let's hope I can keep it clean!

Bought from Mercedes Benz of Guildford, 31000 on the clock, one owner, full MB history... the car was a good price to start with, but managed to haggle a bit, still it came with a years MB warranty, it was Stargarded too which was nice. In the PDI, they found it needed new tyres, disks and pads as well as magic vision wiper blades, so all that was done as part of the deal, and they even refurbed all the alloys too.

As I still have my Audi A8 courtesy car for at least another couple of weeks, I have started adding stuff (as you do!!) Fitted Carplay, brilliant and looks pretty much factory and I have fitted a wireless charging pad in the centre armrest.... I have the fridge to go in as well as the electric retracting towbar (I had the towbar on my 221, handy for popping to the tip or towing the old MK1 Granada around!)

The car already had distronic (an absolute must for me) low-end Burmeister, massage seats, TV and the full exec pack in the rear (Blinds, rear aircon etc) and rear privacy glass

Very happy so far apart from a few little annoying bits... on the W222, they have dispensed with the bag hangers in the boot as well as the umbrella holder, so I have stripped them out of the 221. There is no auto close button on the boot lid and the car only has keyless start and not keyless entry... not a bad thing really I don't suppose, seeing as how they can steal cars using the keyless entry feature these days.... The car also has very light grey seatbelts and came with light grey mats... I've changed the mats for black (£35 for a new set on ebay... bargain!!) and I can see myself putting black belts in it at some point too...

Just curious Barry, is this for private use or do you run a limousine service? It's a really impressive car. Driving or riding in comfort.

With two S class Mercs and an A8 on the drive neighbours must thinking he's mad to be starting a wedding limo business during CV19.

I run a communications business (My company was responsible for all the network infrastructure for the M6 Toll Motorway) and all my previous S Classes have had a bootfull of tools and ladders on the back seats for when I venture out of the office to help the lads on site... when the job needs doing properly :) ... I have never been a fan of vans, but now looking for a small van seeing as this doesn't have a black interior... so just to be used for personal unless I'm visiting clients and don't need step ladders :)

The Audi is a courtesy car after the crash and the W221 is probably going to be sold off as salvage or broken for parts... I hate weddings... had 2 myself and that's more than enough for any man :)

I would be interested to know if your towbar from your W221 fits your W222? Also where are you getting your wiring harness for the trailer lights from?

Hi, the only parts that can be used are the chassis strengthening bars which fit inside the chassis rails. The towbar itself is totally different as the W222 one is electrically operated whereas the W221 is manually deployed.

The Mercedes towbar is connected via the canbus and has its own control unit in the boot and once coded, it displays various functions on the dashboard and displays things like faulty trailer lights etc.

The W221 towbar also had these features and had its own section in the comand screen

Could you possibly expand your comments regarding the wiring of the socket to your trailer? I presume you purchased a wiring harness to connect to the canbus? I have sorted the towbar out, just need a supplier of 13 pin wiring harness. I have located one in Germany, which connects to canbus, but if I have read your comments correctly, there is already a control unit in the boot to connect to? According to my local Mercedes parts department, there is no towbar or wiring harness listed for the W222!!
