Interesting, mine is 5 years old this year but only done 26k miles, maybe I can wait 1 more year, gearbox seems smooth as silk...

I’ve asked one of my local Independents how much they charge for the A service (due Dec this year) and gearbox flush so will report back

My son commented that when he sold his 75k miles W213 220d the gearbox was no where near as smooth as when he bought the car, not an issue to him as he was moving the car on but telling on MB 77.5k gearbox service schedule.

I don’t see an issue leaving your gearbox service until 35k miles, my BMW 435i is 10 years old this year and covered 15k miles changes are smooth but will look into a gearbox service next year, the beauty of synthetic oil is that it doesn’t degrade like mineral oil

I forgot to ask does the car have a stop/start off switch?

Had it confirmed by my Independent today that MB have recently dropped the 5 year time period from their service schedule on the 9g tronic gearbox and only use the 77500 mileage now

Yes can confirm there is a stop/start override button. In this car I leave it on as the 48v motor makes it all seamless (no sudden engine start jerk), it is one of the main selling points for the hybrid.....

I thought that might be the case a clever bit of kit the alternator/starter MB deserve a lot of credit for the design

I pay for the car tomorrow and pick-up Sunday hopefully or Tuesday latest. All boxes ticked there are just a few small stone chips on the front of the car commensurate with mileage which they will touch in other than that all good.

What I didn’t realise until I saw the video of the car ready for collection was that the car has been de-badged…

I wish mine was de-badged, stops all the boy racers tailgating just so they can hear the exhaust note! The straight 6 makes an interesting noise, even in comfort mode, it is still louder than my old SL500 and that was a V8.

My detailer is ceramic coating mine tomorrow, he found a small stone chip on the bonnet, I guess it will happen to any car not new....

Get your detailer to remove the badges before coating it

Good point as he may be removing them as part of the pre-valet, will ask.

I didn’t bother with the Diamond protection coating offered by the retailer I don’t mind putting a couple of coats of decent car polish twice a year

With the SL I found the ceramic coating gave it a deeper shine than I ever achieved using polish and it lasted for 5 years, I am hoping it will bring out the pearlescence of the designo diamond white metallic once we see Summer..

As the dealer had put £2k of servicing into the car I think there was very little goodwill left in the tin to pay the £600 bill for bodywork/interior protection and for that money it can’t be far short of the cost of ceramic coating

Can always add it later, got mine for £200 as minimal prep required, the actual coating product only costs £35 so most is the labour prep..

Car has arrived and very pleased with the condition the previous owner certainly looked after it. It will need a wash as it suffered some salt spray even though it was brought on a trailer. Very pleased with the colour combination Hazelnut leather interior and Selenite paintwork.

Weather is improving tomorrow so hopefully get chance to wash it and take pics over the next few days.

The S212 is being picked up tomorrow if the S213 is as reliable over the next 8 years I will be a very happy man (bless no ship till sailed in)

Difficult to post at the moment as I’m changing from BT to Virgin Media with the usual problems (not on the side of VM I might add)
