Strange one this, when accelerating, say from 50mph, and flooring the throttle the speed actually dies away somewhat. But lift off the gas ever so slightly and she's off like a racehorse.

I recently replaced the plugs and leads with a set from GSF (German, Swedish & French) as opposed to buying from Benz. I got them at a quarter of the price. The oil probably needs a change, but not sure this would have such an effect.

I also replaced the radiator and viscous fan coupling with new ones.

The cars starts and runs perfect and returns excellent mpg.

Any idea's?

1997 2.0 petrol auto "C" 200 with somewhere over 142,000 miles on the clock.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for that. Will have to go to the dealer anyhoo to have the autobox oil checked/changed. Can't dip it as there is no dipstick?!?!?! Fly one that.

My wife is happy enough with the car at the minute so will take it when I get a free moment in about 50 years time :-(
