I am thinking of picking up an A-Class for the other half, circa 2000 vintage but Parkers seems to have a big questionmark over reliability. What do people here think of them? Are they a worthwhile buy? Reliability is going to very important since her daily commute is set to increase in the near future and I don't want to have to worry about breakdowns late at night.

There were a few problems with some of them, but then show me a car that didn't have. Problems tended to be silly electrical issues, like the service computer counting double, as far as I know, they don't actually break down any more than anything else.
Do a search on here for A class and see what issues others have had.

Our one has been very good.

I did need a couple of bits doing but we got it quite cheaply. Would buy another.
