My 2.0 190e auto has started blowing a fuse whenever I shift from P or N to D. It appears to happen when passing over R. Otherwise, the car is fine. The problem is that the fuse controls the brake lights and fuel gauge. My local garage spent several hours looking at the problem only to recommend replacing the transmission. Someone mentioned that it could be a switch in the transmission that needs replacing? Must confess I am slightly clueless. Any ideas? Thanks.
