I've had a search and can't find much regarding brands sidewall designs...
Question is;
My Pirelli rears have a bead mounded in that offers good rim protection, the front (Nakang?) don't, I will be refurbishing the rims as the tyres are soon due, any brands people recommend that perform well and include said protective 'detail'?
Unisport 3's seem popular but haven't seen any up close.
AMG 18" On E350 coupe std sizes...

Goodyear and Vredestein are 2 brands which have an additional rim protection flange and the Dunlop 3D winter sports I've used on my Audi and SL have - not sure on their summer tyres?
Good way to check is the tyre sites like mytyres- they will use the phrase rim protection flange...

Thanks John, a bit of extra cost on the tyre may be offset by the saving on wheel refurbs!

Uniroyal Rainsport 3. Can't recommend them strongly enough.

Most tyres have bead protection. It's the norm rather than the exception.
Sadly Pirelli P Zero Rosso dropped it on my tyre size.

So went with Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 3.
They have a nice bead/bump guard, completely shrouds AMG wheel. Definitely so worth it. Its just too easy to scuff an edge if say you are away from the kerb, but turn the wheel till it hits the kerb ... unforgiving on lowish profile tyres!
... And good roadholding in wet and dry.
Circa £160 on 19"s
No idea how they wear.

But I do prefer the squarer edge of the Pirellis ... optically makes the tyre look wider.

Why not just put wider tyres on?

Rim protection that actually works. The moulded-in protectors are better than nothing, but not as good as another 20mm of tyre width..(or more)
