update to 312 lack of power

hi to those interested:D ,

further to the thread for lack of power, my friends motorhome had the gas recirculation valve replaced. as can be seen from the photos there is a washer on the shaft which should not be there, most of the time it caused no problems but at times it must have become stuck at the angle and seized the valve resulting in an unturbo'd vehicle:-( . the questions are - why has the washer appeared and what stopped it appearing in the past. btw m/home only has 75k kms on it.

I'd guess that the washer was inside the housing to act as a guide for the shaft but whatever retained it has given up so it's been able to move about.
