A friend was quoted £250 for the first service on his car. Having learnt on here that it can vary dealer to dealer, I checked online and in the next nearest town it was only £210.

I told him to ask about the discount for members and the guy had to go and check. He came back and said they didn't do the discount to the club any more as hardly anyone asks for it. Told my friend if he got it done this week, they'd do it for £180, which is less than the club discount would have made it but still disappointed I couldn't get a saving with the card.

Anyone else ever have issues using theirs in a place listed as giving a discount

Yes.
First time I asked in Bristol parts dept.
"No Sir, we don't do that."
After a brief discussion I now get much more discount than the card obtained anyway.

I always ask for a discount although I see most don't

I never understand that.
About the only place I find it impossible to get a discount is Tesco and I don't go there any more as a result.
Oh and petrol stations but I've started to get my own back now by just using Esso, who have the pot of 1p's, putting in £10 or £20 or whatever to the nearest pound and going over by 2p, then paying cash. They pay the 2p.
I know that makes me so tight I squeak when I walk but so are fuel companies.
It just makes me feel better.

Forgive me but that is pretty tight!

HI Steve,

MBO discount is available across most main dealerships and some indi's it just depends on the franchise as to what offer is available. Some however, do have better deals for its customers directly with the site and customer rather than through the club. If you have a look at www.mercedesspecialistfinder.co.uk you will see what site offers what when joining the MBO. Obviously this is only one part of the MBO benefits.

Hope this helps.

I think that one of the problems that come up is the staff on service reception can have a high turnover, the fact they they will give a discount to members is not something all the staff know about.

We often get calls from new staff / service managers asking to confirm this, but its always offered as the discount was agreed upon high.

This is very true. It's hard to build relationships with the staff when they come and go so frequent but we do try! That's why we always ask members to contact us if this happens, as we have the right contacts to rectify the problem quickly.

They do indeed! Anyone can join the forum, however to become a paid member of the club and receive a card, you must pay a fee (from £30 for 1 year) to gain access to all the discounts/ benefits listed and the promo codes. You may view some of the membership benefits by clicking on the following link but note this is not all of them, as the list is continuing to grow - http://www.mercedesclub.org.uk/join-us/

Feel free to email me if you have any further queries beccy.stevens@mercedesclub.org.uk

So how much discount should we be looking for on a service.

It depends on the site. Some offer discounts on Service, parts and repairs, others just on parts. Contact Beccy on 01892 860927 to discuss your requirements.
