Hi Folks
I've been sorting my 88 300e auto saloon, which has had problems with overheating for a while.
We replaced the original rad from SGF but also realised that the Viscous fan coupling wasn't as tight as it should be.
We bought a coupling from SGF when we took the old one off it had the same part number as the new one , but the old coupling is deeper by about 10mm and tapers towards the engine. When we tried to fit the new one it rubbed on the belt. I rang SGF who said the old coupling is different and they do a new fan to go with it.
They couldn't help any further
Can I have some advice on this, wha have others done to resolve this?
Do I need a new fan or can I get the old style coupling somewhere.
thanks
Peter
