Does remapping a vito makes any difference to engine's health.
I have vito 111 cdi 109 bhp
confused whether to go for it or not
If it was good why did mercedes not do it in first place. Must be something wrong. Not sure
Need advice please..

Manufacturers obviously spend thousands of hours mapping their different engines but they err on the side of caution, so there are built in safety margins that are pretty wide. Also they have emissions to consider amongst other things.

I've not heard yet of a healthy engine going wrong from having a proper remap, a few stories from tuning boxes though, which is why it's always best to go to a reputable tuner.

My 115 has been mapped from new I was told when I bought it.
It's only done 296k miles to date so I guess it's too early to know if it's reduced the life of the engine I'll let you know at 500k I hope.

What I can say is that it pulls like a train and the hills around here haven't shown it to be lacking. I cruise at 60 or more on the m'way and expect 34 / 36 mpg (true and accurate) over a tank full. For an automatic I'm not disappointed.

I hope you're not thrashing it till it's properly run in...:D

How many miles has it done? Merc's are better with decent mileage on the clock, likely to see a bigger improvement over a brand new remapped one as well, maybe, possibly.

I haven't done 1500 miles in it yet and have taken it up to a mere 296,040 miles.

There was black death to the rear injector, 2 glow plugs shot so changed all, and needed a new stat.

I'm presently putting in ML seats on swivel bases. There will be more jobs going in to a camper van conversion as time goes on.

Thanks everyone
Mine is 04 reg 111 cdi 109bhp manual with 160k on clock.
What would you suggest , whether to go for it or not
Does it increases emissions or makes any changes? If so will that be ok for mot?
And finally please suggest any reputable tuner around manchester
Thanks everyone for your valuable time and advice

Personal choice that one.

I've never heard of that being an issue, unless you go for a plug in box (useless snake oil proucing devices).

And finally please suggest any reputable tuner around manchester
Sorry can't help on that one but I'm sure there are those that will travel to you. Be sure to find one with a good reputation, but I expect that's why you're asking.

Thanks everyone for your valuable time and advice
You're welcome.
