W number

Hi .only new on the forum.I see a lot of people asking about the W number. Can someone tell me mine .
My car is an SL500=2003.

A coup'e the number is c215 not a W, that is for a saloon eg w220 = 500 sl saloon

Does your car have this button and if so what is it used for

Hi w201. I am as confused as you. I received two answers.No one seems to know.
I have to go in for a sevice on monday.I will ask then.

R230!!

SL's are not coupe. they have them roofs what are up one minute and not up the next. coups are hard tops with slopey shoulders.


I only have a baby R. but when it grows up it wants to be a big one.

R129 is the old SL with the square headlights.

C215 is the 'new' CL

C140 is the Old Cl (mine)

C = coupe - hard top, 2 + 2 seating
R = roadster, drop top 2+ 2 seating
W = Wagon or saloon
S = eState

So a C CLASS can be-
C203 for the c class coupe
S203 for the estate
W203 for the saloon

Mine is a W124, but its a coupe, but thinking about it I'm sure there's a C somewhere on the VIN number. Piqued me now, I'll look when I get back. Also, what's the second number denote? I'm sure I've seen a site somewhere that breaks all this down, but can't find the links anymore
