W123 200t ownership history

Hi All

As you can see I am new to this forum. Although I have been "collecting" mainly w124 and w123 Mercs for a while, I have never actually posted on the forum, but have referred to the information for very useful reference.

Ok, so I have been working on the restoration of a 1981 W123 200t for a few months now. I purchased the car from an auction, unfortunately no supporting service history was provided. I have made attempts to contact the previous owner to no avail. The gentleman has owned the car since 1986 so I'm presuming he will have a lot of useful information which will help in my journey.

The car has a MB owners emblem on the front grille, so I'm guessing the previous owner was a member here. Please study the pictures attached, if any of you are familiar with this car then please do get in touch, it will be much appreciated.

Thanks. Sorry about the picture quality, the car is actually brown. It's an almost full restoration job: replacing rear arches, front wings, panel repairs, full respray, driver seat repair, mechanical overhaul. If the 79k mileage is genuine then I guess it makes the restoration viable. Hence the reason why I'm trying so desperately to trace some history for the car.

Even better in brown, I ran a 280TE for a number of years, and easy cars to work on.

Hi All.

Anyone have anything they can offer in my quest to collate some history for this car? I have invested a significant amount of time and money in the restoration and as a result have become very attached to the car. It means having a documented history of the car becomes that much more important.

more than a reasonable probability you may need a ouija board

failing that you can apply to DVLA for details under certain circumstances, or possibly via MOT route, or even the auction house may release some info if you ask them in person and explain your problem and reason for doing so
