Valve gasket job started . Well i ,must say this for all other owners of the W124 And maybe others After removing the valve cover i wes horified at the paint inside it . The silly barstewards sprayed paint inside the cover .Well lots of it had gone into bubbles , through the heat .So two hours yesterday and another two hours to day just cleaning up inside the valve cover . Only valve cover i have had with over spray black paint inside And i have had a frew cars in my time . From day one these are on a course of self distruction . How many of merc owners have had an oil blokage due to flakes of old paint from inside the rocker covers, we will never know . And with so many owners still ending up with an oil leak in the end after working on the valve cover gaskets .Makes me think, is it worth doing it in the end . I know in the manual it said, to put the gasket on without sealant .Now this valve cover that i removed had sealant on it ..So must be a reason . Thinking,, it may be when the head gasket was done and the garage sealed the gasket instead of replacing it . I still thinking of putting some on in the corners at the front and also in that half moon bit at the rear .
