Found why the front side lights regularly fail intermittently...the bulb holders are so corroded they don´t allow current to pass between the casing and the socket. Tried switch cleaner but just fixes it for a day or two. I don't even use them but they annoyingly trip the bright warning light on the dash which is not what you want when driving at night!

I can't find any numbers on the bulb holders to get new ones...would these BA9 ones do the trick?

One of the biggest problems is on the lamp socket,, the contacts that are riveted on to the rear of the pins go high resistance. In the wort cases I have removed them and hard wired them.

If I touch outside of bulb itself to socket, light is on. If I touch bulb holder near bulb end to socket, light on. If i push the bulb holder all the way in then no light or light with a lot of pressure but intermittently fails as moving around.

Makes me think it's the bulb holder at the moment although the socket I'm sure isn't quite as conductive as it used to be which could be part of the cause

OK do try some non drying switch cleaner, it works wonders.

Going back to the main socket, its the spades that lose contact with the pins, and easy to test with a volt meter from the pin to the spade.

More switch cleaner wouldn't work but solved by some copper wire between bulb/holder and socket!

Just the glowplugs to do now when I get my friends multimeter!
