I knew many Lars in Sweden :D thats why I asked.

It is not the fuel pumps that are isolated it is just 1 thing under the bonnet, I lost all the information when my computer crashed.

Here are the wring diagrams
http://www.autolib.diakom.ru/CAR/Mercedes-Benz/1995/E320/SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS/

Go to any C class they are all the same, check the engine wiring carefully, they show where the K38 is under the dash, go to data lines and the alarm and you may find what it is, the year is not so important as the 1997 is much the same in this respect.

You could pull the fuel pump relay and bridge out pins 7 and 8 I think and the pump will run all the time, you could also check the voltage on these pins to see if they are live as they drive the fuel pump

It will not be coded back then but that could be what I had filed away and lost.

The K38 is a starter lockout relay,, you will find it on the link I gave you under the C220-280, it will be wired in the same way on a D version

it cant be such a relay in this car since the engine is turning the glow lamp is on for the right time and then turns off so it glows also so it must be somthing that stops the fuel somehow
