Hi guys. It's been a while since I have last posted. My clk 240 has just passed 177k and although mechanically the car is sound the body work is looking rather shabby and there are a few electrical niggles. I was just browsing autotrader and was surprised at how cheap you can now pick up a clk for.

One particular clk55 has caught my eye, although I wasn't initially after an amg. Just wondering if any of you guys can give advice on the amg model or anything to look out for? Cheers. Here is a link to actual car.

Looks lovely, I wouldn't hesitate, great colour combination, being picky I would change the wheel centres to the blue plaque style ones.

I have one, that one has been for sale ages and was on my list of cars to see when I was buying mine. I ended up with mine because it was cheaper slightly, closer to me and had nicer (IMO) wheels on it although mine is silver which is considerably more boring!

I'd say go look at my thread but all the pics have gone thanks to photobucket but it seems they are well screwed together with no major issues you won't have seen in your 240. The engine is the M113 5.5 litre V8 producing 367 bhp and although hand built isn't too far removed from the mass made 5.0 M113. I've done a full service and spark plug change on mine as well as front brakes with all genuine parts which are surprisingly cheap and it's been very simple with no expensive tools needed and nothing too tricky other than some slightly difficult to access spark plugs. Mine suffers with the dash click which is the HVAC system so be aware of that and mine also has a broken heated seat but otherwise no issues which is impressive for a 14 year old Mercedes IMO.

If there's any advice I can give it's to check everything works at least twice and check it restarts well after it gets warm. You will probably be aware from your 240 there is no dipstick so check the oil level on the computer before you set off on the test drive.

Also, nitpick point, the engine is not a Kompressor so those wing badges are a bit of a liberty ;)

Good luck with it. I love mine!! Here it is just because :D

Can't give you any specific advice about the car but I have purchased a car from these guys myself. Found them to be a decent "used" car seller. Just make sure if you are interested in the car arrange a viewing and test drive as they are in a busy location with lots of other used car sellers close buy. Also as the car is a few years old, haggle hard and have beer tokens with you to get the best price!

Cheers guys, @Sasha94 great thread, I have just read through it ashame I couldn't get the pics up. your car looks great and I think the silver suites it well.
I'm not really that handy with a spanner, so ideally I want a car that I can just jump into and drive, I know it's quite a few years old now so probably will get the odd issue here and there which is to be expected.

its also good to know that general maintenance such as servicing and brakes is not gonna break the bank.

Got to love an AMG, they all need rescuing and looking after, my advice is to buy it and do it up.

I'm sorting the photos out as we speak so hopefully you'll be able to see what's been done!!
