W211 Centre Wheel Caps

Good morning everyone

I hope you are all well

I am looking to freshen up the wheels on my W211 wheels re-furb etc

Might as well change the centre caps whilst I am at it

I found many on ebay for £15 in black /blue but not sure if they are of good quality [of course]

Just spoken to MB Tamworth and they want £72 !!! for the 4 !!!!

Has anyone bought off ebay or have a source that is nearer to the ebay price I have seen ,or even half of what a MB want

Any help would be a appreciated

Read the logo under the picture AFTERMARKET ?????? That price is still high for a set of clones .Ebay is cheaper and from the same place China.

I got eBay cheapo 2017 style centre caps and a genuine Merc 2017 badge. Quality of the centre caps is better than the damn badge tbh!!! Wish I’d have saved £10 and got a cheap badge. New badges not like the quality of the one I took off the car from 2003 Look goooooood though

The eBay centre caps look pretty good but the lacquer is crap and virtually non existent so they deteriorate very quickly (12 months). I bought two sets because they were so cheap so I’ll spray a proper coat of lacquer on them before fitting the next set

That’s an idea; I’ll look into doing that when the wheels come off for a proper clean at the end of the winter

Put a set of cheapo on my w124 that have done well over the three years they have been on there. And the originals have sat in the garage after I refurbished them .. Cost was £9.99 .. I did the wheels at the same time .The bits you see are water after I lifted the cover to take the picture

Strong acidic wheel cleaners really trash the center caps quickly , try and limit their use by washing more regularly with soap and water .

This is probably the most important aspect that determines how long the centre caps last along with of course mileage

I now only brush maguiars hot rims into my wheels,the spray option is to random ,it does not do discs/calips any favours.and you use less than when spraying,but yes as wighty says if you don't know exactly what you are spraying then careful how you use it and sponge and water[or petrol as Malcolm would say] will do the trick.

I've bought lots from Ebay, all reasonable quality! Can't justify MB price of £72!!! absolute joke!!
I'm even less impressed with the quality of the laquer they use on their alloys!!!

Update Update

The £23 version from the link JL sent has arrived and they are exactly the same look,feel,texture,weight as the MB version

Lets see what 3 years brings!

If you are also getting the wheels repainted make sure the refurbisher fits the centre caps. Powder coating is thick and made mine really hard to get back in.
