W216 CL500, drivers seat stuck in rear seat access mode!

Hi all

I’m new here, I picked up my 2007 CL500 yesterday, managed to break it today!

I used the chrome handle on the drivers seat to get some stuff from the back seat and now the drivers seat can’t un-latch from it’s folded forward position.

I can still move it’s base forwards and backwards, up and down etc, but I can’t make the back rest move to upright.

I’ve managed to remove the back of the seat trim so I have access to the back of the chair but I’m not sure what to do from here.

Ideally I’d just like to unlock the back rest and take it into a specialist for investigation, does anyone have any advice as to how to do this please?

As it stands, I can’t drive the car due to the seat position!

Not uncommon! It is a sequencing thing and can be recovered by closing both doors and starting again, so to speak. If no luck I'd close all doors and windows and lock car, walk away for 5 minutes, then start again lifting the chrome lever and trying to move backrest back or forward. If that fails try disconnecting battery for 5 mins.

I wouldn't mess with the mechanism at all
