That's very generous thank you, sadly I've just discovered that SWMBo's definition of "Nottingham" is in fact "just outside Matlock Bath", so somewhat the other way from you!

The CL will come along to the next meetup that we can make it to- assuming she doesn't "garage queen" herself once again.

In preparation for his return I have treated him to some bling from the Bay. Quite a bargain I thought at £25, all 3 pedals and footrest.

Lol, ah yes a woman's sense of direction never lets her down :rolleyes:

Not considering coming to the Dyno day at MSL next month?

Close then !!!!!!

"Well it's up that way!" was her comment.

We'll probably get there via Penrith or the Metro Centre.

She's from Norfolk, I think all those years of driving for hours to get 15 miles down the road has affected her sense of geography.

oh dear, no such thing. No lighting system uses the CAN for lamps.

This should mean that they have the resistor to stop error messages being flagged Malcolm. Otherwise the LED lamps won't work in a halogen lamp holder.

CAN error free is all wrong from the sellers, yes built in resistor so that the lamp monitor circuit does not flag up a faulty bulb.

It is me being picky its just they they are not on a CAN circuit at all.

Parked under a tree, came back to what appeared blackcurrant concrete splatters over the bonnet and pano roof. What were those birds feeding on?

So spent a couple of hours and emptied a 200 litre water butt washing the excrement off to leave it shining again, ready for hols.

I use the water butt water to save getting those horrible white streaks from the tap water.

Well it's new knowledge to me Malcolm, I didn't know they weren't on the CAN. But typical iggerant sellers, they must be failed Grauniad journos ;)

I'm spending 10 minutes every evening picking holly berries from the bush on our driveway out of every conceivable automotive orifice known to man. Those things just get EVERYWHERE!

Fitted new tail lamp bulb in the W203.

Its a very clever system it uses to direct the tail light function to the brake light bulb but its a pain to clear the error message! Took 3 attempts before it said it was happy...

When fitting a new bulb to these cars the lamps must be turned off and on again, if the faulty lamp has energized another, as the 12 volt is removed from the faulty bulb holder.

203 passed it's MOT today, Hooray.
Marshal Motors in Plymouth had a couple of offers on. £20 for the MOT and £20 for a break fluid flush using recommended dot4 plus.
Bargain.

Well, this morning I spoke to Phil at Welwyn Merx; he has confirmed that the new pump is working fine, operating at 200bar; the car is sat on 4 wheels (!) which are a) all level and b) all at the right height; ABC is operating properly, very responsive on test drives; I've arranged to collect on Friday and have a day trip on Saturday in it planned, to view some W211s.

Phew.

it's been a journey, thanks to everyone who helped to diagnose my valve issues back in Feb/ March time. Fingers crossed I now have some pleasant motoring!

My youngest has been to a few auctions and the last post 06-06 211 estate with a poor spec made over book trade

Autotrader has very few decent looking 211 estates with the 320 engine Malcolm. Around here there are 2 under £4k and 250k miles (!). I have my eye on two Avantgarde trimmed examples which are the ones lined up to see on Saturday, but I'm still having to do 50-80 miles to see them.

There is another, looks straight but speaking to the owner it has a gearbox problem, very harsh lumpy gearchanges. I suspect that it just needs ATF change, but how much is that on a 7G box?

My son wants a diesel and the facelift.. the 7g uses 9 litres of fluid and new sump bolts, time wise about ½ hour.

I can't afford the facelift, I don't want to lash out too much and I'm trading in the X Trail for it (so if you want to borrow it for your move you'd better get a shift on! ;) ) I just can't believe that finding a particular spec E320 is so hard, looking around it's not that there just aren't that many at my price point, it's that there just aren't that many around at all. At least not on Autotrader.

Thanks for the offer, I should be OK as nothing to clear to start with, I think a 2000 V70 estate for £500 should do the job during the build.
